Black Conscious Coventry (BCC) is a community organisation formed by four socially conscious individuals who share a passion for Black History and who want to a make a positive impact within the African and Caribbean Community in Coventry.
BCC aims to do this by hosting events which offer thought provoking topics and explores historical and contemporary issues that affect the Black Community. These discussions will sort to find tangible solutions to the challenges that the community faces.
The BCC mission is to Educate, Motivate, Unite and raise the consciousness of the African and Caribbean community within Coventry.
BCC will be organising a variety of events that will educate, entertain and engage the community with a heavy focus on the youth, while providing networking opportunities for local Black Businesses within Coventry. BCC will be working closely with the Caribbean Association Limited who will facilitate many of our events.
“Who You Callin’ Nigger?” the N word: Decoded aims to explore the etymology and the impact of the term ‘Nigger’. The evening will consist of a panel of speakers from different areas of influence who will be discussing their views and experiences with the word. The event will also include music, entertainment and exhibitions from local black businesses.
