We are changing the way the Civil Service works and are at the forefront of Government’s transformation agenda; reshaping the relationship civil servants have with their place of work. With a responsibility for delivering the Government’s Estates Strategy we manage the Government’s property assets including delivering major programmes to construct and refurbish buildings and drive more flexible smarter working practices to improve productivity and well-being. Our mission is simple – to work with Departments to create great places to work for civil servants, in turn enabling them to deliver excellent public services.
You will be responsible for driving value from an asset portfolio worth circa £3 billion, making sure we deliver our ambitious saving target of over £1 billion over a ten-year period. A property specialist, you will bring deep insight and experience of the property market and demonstrable commercial acumen, enabling you to be the point of expertise within the Agency and across Government.
This will include responsibility for developing our commercial strategy and our approach to property investment, and ensuring the arrangements we have in place to provide an integrated property service to our clients are fit for purpose and deliver value for public money without compromising client satisfaction. You will also support the delivery of our capital programme, working with our commercial partners on property search, acquisition, disposal and development. At the same time, we will look to you to apply your considerable knowledge and experience and personal abilities to a young and maturing operation, with few other precedents.
This is an unrivalled, but demanding, opportunity that will require the development of strong relationships with the property, construction and facilities management markets and with financial investors. The intended way of working is to bring the best of the private sector to the public arena.
These are exciting times for the organisation, and this opportunity provides a great chance to make a positive impact and contribution.
