BHM Live

4 October 2018

BHM Live is an initiative, led by Serendipity, which offers opportunities to emerging Black artists to develop their ideas and showcase their work. This year presents innovative work from explorations of classic literature to personal journeys.

Theo ‘Godson’ Oloyade, pioneering UK Krump artist, presents a dark yet captivating interpretation of the Shakespeare classic in K.R.U.M.P Macbeth.

Elsabet Yonas presents What I Don’t Remember. Five women negotiate their shared experience of growing up with absent fathers.

Maria de Luz Ghoumrassi’s solo dance piece A Tree Without Leaves will look at the different stages of women’s fertility journeys.

Beverley Bennett will share the first preview of a short film Simon Says / Dadda, part of an ongoing project working with BAME women’s groups in workshop settings within the UK, unpicking ideas around relationships, and experiences of patriarchy where the personal and political elide.

Mia Johnson presents Pink Lemonade a multi-disciplinary solo show exploring female masculinity and lesbianism.
