DMU Black Film Festival for Black History Month

DMU BLACK SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 30th OCT 2019

The Media Discourse Centre of De Montfort University Leicester United Kingdom, is delighted to present to you a Black short Film Festival to mark this year’s Black History month. The Guest Speaker for the Film Festival is Yvonne Connikie, who is a Film Curator, Programmer and Cultural Practitioner, specialising in Black Film, and presently working with Film Cymru Wales and Film Hub Wales to provide better representation and engagement in BAME Film and Filmmakers in Wales. Yvonne is also a PhD candidate at the University of South Wales, researching the Windrush Caribbean Community in Cardiff.

For Films: Black Film makers in UK are required by Friday 30 August 2019 to send 5 minutes short Films with credits through WeTransfer to p16169325@my365.dmu.ac.uk. Preferred length of short films are 4 min long including credits. Festival Themes include: genres of fiction/non-fiction covering politics, economics, sustainability, social justice and inclusion.

Frame Rate: 25fps

Graphics: 16:9 Safety

Running time: 4-5mins

Successful Film makers will be notified by 15th September 2019.
