African Drums are the music instruments that African diaspora music relies heavily upon to create the rhythmic beats that signifies most African, African Caribbean and Latin American music.

 

Traditionally, the drum has been the heartbeat and the soul of most African communities. African Drums have been an intrinsic part of African life for centuries and for countless generations, an ancient instrument used to celebrate all aspects of life.

Kay Smith has been playing and running intergenerational Djembe Drumming classes for nearly two decades, across schools, events, and festivals both in the UK and internationally.
