Organiser: BlackHistoryMonth.org.uk.

About the initiative: Honouring Black Britain 2026 is a special national recognition initiative celebrating Black individuals whose lives and contributions have helped shape Britain.

Eligibility: Open to members of the public, schools and communities across the UK.

Nominee consent: By submitting a nomination, entrants confirm that the nominee has agreed to be nominated and understands that, if selected, their name, story and (where provided) image may be published in print and digital formats. If the entrant is under 18, parent/guardian permission is required.

Submission: One nomination per person. Entries must be submitted using the official online form.

Written tribute: Tributes must be original, written in English, and must not have been previously published or shared online before submission.

AI-generated content: AI-generated work is not permitted. Entries found to be AI-generated may be disqualified.

Editing and presentation: Selected tributes may be edited for clarity, length and exhibition presentation. The organiser will ensure that the original intent and meaning are respected.

Publication: Selected honourees will be featured in Black History Month Magazine 2026 (September edition) and recognised during Black History Month 2026 (October). Tributes may also be adapted for related print, digital and exhibition materials.

Images: If an image is provided, entrants confirm they have permission to share it. Images are not guaranteed to be used.

Deadline: All entries must be submitted by midnight (GMT UK time), 15 July 2026.

Selection: Entries will be reviewed by a panel appointed by the organiser. The panel’s decision is final.

Rights: The author retains copyright of their tribute. By entering, entrants grant the organiser permission to publish selected tributes (in full or edited form) for promotional and educational purposes.
