Black History Month Magazine 2024

This year’s Black History Month theme is "Reclaiming Narratives," focusing on recognising and correcting the stories of Black history and culture.

This year’s Black History Month theme is “Reclaiming Narratives,” focusing on recognising and correcting the stories of Black history and culture.

By highlighting “Reclaiming Narratives,” we aim to bring more attention to our true stories and history.

This theme is about correcting historical inaccuracies and sharing the untold success stories and full complexity of Black heritage. It’s about taking control of our stories, honouring our heroes, and challenging narratives that have often overlooked Black contributions and achievements in the UK and around the world. #ReclaimingNarratives

In the coming months, we will delve deeper into our theme. Our platform will be a hub for sharing insights, stories, and historical reflections that align with “Reclaiming Narratives.” Through thought-provoking articles and enlightening events, we aim to celebrate and honour the rich tapestry of Black history.

Reclaiming narratives is more than just a theme for Black History Month; it’s a movement towards recognising and appreciating the many contributions of Black individuals throughout history. As we embark on this journey, we invite you to join us in embracing, educating, and empowering each other through the stories that shape our collective identity.

Magazine Distribution: An Invitation for Support

To make Black History Month Magazine widely accessible, we face increased printing and distribution costs. We invite organisations to support us by purchasing copies for their events and communities.

While we provide free distribution in major supermarkets like ASDA, Tesco, and Sainsbury’s, at Black History Month events, and through community groups, universities, and libraries, we encourage companies and organisations to support our mission by buying in bulk. This support helps amplify the voices and stories we are dedicated to sharing.

Exploring “Reclaiming Narratives”

In the months ahead, we are committed to exploring our theme in depth. Our platform will offer insights, stories, and historical explorations that reflect “Reclaiming Narratives.” From incisive articles to captivating events, our goal is to create an environment where the diverse and rich tapestry of Black history is celebrated and honoured.

Join Us in This Journey

On behalf of the team at Black History Month Magazine, we extend a heartfelt invitation to everyone. Let’s unite in “Reclaiming Narratives” and work towards a future where the true essence of Black history, contributions, and presence are rightfully recognised.
