Join The Feminist Book Club at Afrori Books for a welcoming monthly discussion celebrating Black literature, feminist thought and inclusive conversation. Hosted by Dr Nat Arias, the book club provides a friendly and supportive space to explore books by Black authors through a feminist lens while encouraging thoughtful discussion and new perspectives.
Meeting on the third Thursday of every month, each session focuses on a different title from Afrori Books’ carefully curated collection. Whether exploring fiction, memoir or contemporary non-fiction, participants are invited to discuss themes of identity, race, gender, community and social justice in an open and respectful environment.
The book club welcomes people of all genders and backgrounds. You do not need to consider yourself a feminist to take part—only a willingness to read, listen and engage with others. Sessions are designed to be accessible, thought-provoking and enjoyable, making them an ideal way to discover new writers while connecting with fellow readers.
Hosted by Afrori Books, Brighton’s independent Black-owned bookshop, The Feminist Book Club offers an inspiring opportunity to celebrate Black voices, broaden perspectives and become part of a growing community of readers committed to meaningful conversation and lifelong learning. Advance booking is recommended as places are limited.
