Florence is part of the extremely vital Frafra Gospel scene in Ghana. But her voice is a big exception: Born and raised in the Ashanti capital of Kumasi, the epicenter of high-life music, her style differs from the original Frafra Gospel as played in northern Ghana. Surrounding herself with the city’s best young high-life musicians, she now uniquely combines the soul of the northern savannah and the sound of the rainforest region, fusing the best of both cultures into one unique event. Florence and Philophon share a long history. Being part of Guy One’s group she is the voice on his radio hit “Estre”, as a member of Alogte Oho’s Sounds of Joy and can be heard on his hit single “Mam Yinne Wa” and was chosen by Jimi Tenor to sing on his instant club classic “Vocalize My Luv”. She has also released a series of locally successful underground albums.
