Chineke! Junior Orchestra presents an uplifting and inspiring family concert at the Royal Festival Hall, specially designed to introduce young audiences to the excitement of live orchestral music.

 

This engaging one-hour performance features a lively and varied programme of short pieces, offering something for everyone—whether it’s your child’s first concert or a joyful return to the concert hall. Expect music full of colour, rhythm, and energy, brought to life by Chineke!’s talented young musicians.

The Chineke! Junior Orchestra is part of the Chineke! Foundation, established to provide music-making opportunities to young Black and ethnically diverse musicians across the UK. Members of the Junior Orchestra, aged 11 to 22, represent a new generation of musical talent—committed, skilled, and proud to reflect the richness of British cultural life today.

In keeping with Chineke!’s mission, this family concert celebrates diversity and excellence in classical music while creating a welcoming, inclusive space for all children and families. Friendly presenters guide the audience through the performance, making it easy to follow and fun to be part of. There’s no need to sit still in silence—clapping, laughing and curiosity are all encouraged.
