How do archives and museums shape our understanding of the past? Which voices are preserved, and which are silenced?
Britain Rewritten brings leading thinkers Robert Beckford and Emma Dabiri to Leicester for a powerful exploration of colonial legacies in Britain’s cultural record.
This thought-provoking event, organised by Opal22 Arts and Edutainment in partnership with Leicester’s cultural and heritage institutions, will combine keynote talks with an interactive panel discussion featuring industry experts. Together, they will ask how we can challenge dominant narratives, decolonise the archive, and build more inclusive, community-led histories.
The event is designed for students, educators, heritage professionals, and all those interested in re-examining how Britain’s past is told and retold. Expect critical insights, open dialogue, and ideas for action that can reshape the way we understand history today.
