Open Mic Evening with Hannah Stanislaus – Black History Month

Wednesday 22 October

Hannah brings a distinctive voice and style to her poetry, making her performances both engaging and unforgettable. This Black History Month, she invites audiences to experience her work live, celebrating the power of words, creativity, and self-expression.

The evening will feature Hannah performing poems from her acclaimed collections, offering a window into her unique perspectives and experiences. Attendees will also have the opportunity to share their own creations, creating a space for dialogue, reflection, and artistic exchange.

Refreshments will be provided, and the event will include opportunities for Q&A and discussion, allowing audiences to engage directly with Hannah and explore the ideas behind her poetry. It promises to be an interactive and inspiring experience for poetry lovers and newcomers alike.

Hannah’s first collection, Extremely Aggressive, Uneducated and Rough, was published in May 2022, its title drawn from a social media insult. Awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2023, she travelled to the US in 2024 with Poetry in America to research the impact of poetry in education. Her work combines sharp wit with thought-provoking social commentary.

A UK and US State slam champion, Hannah is also the founder of Lost Souls, a sold-out poetry open mic night in South London. Her second collection, Pauper Politician Poet, was published in April 2025. This event offers a rare opportunity to experience her live performance and engage with one of the UK’s most exciting contemporary poets.
