100 Black British Doctors

Wednesday 14 October 2026

Meet contributors to 100 Black British Doctors for an evening celebrating the achievements of Black medical professionals and exploring representation, opportunity and inclusion in healthcare.

Created by the Future Medics Forum, the book brings together the experiences of Black doctors across the UK and through different periods of British medical history. Their stories highlight professional achievements alongside the obstacles they have encountered.

Through these personal accounts, the project opens up conversations about access to medicine, equity in healthcare and the importance of visible role models. It also offers an insight into the realities of working on the medical frontline.

The evening includes discussion and networking, with opportunities to hear from contributors, reflect on a career in medicine and share experiences of working in healthcare.

Part of Lambeth Libraries’ Black History Month programme, the event recognises the contribution of doctors of African and Caribbean heritage to the NHS and seeks to encourage the next generation of medics and healthcare professionals.
