Celebrate Black History Month with an evening of poetry, spoken word and conversation, hosted by Dee Majek and Alex Murdock at Clapham Library.
Joined by guest poets including Maia Watkins, the hosts will introduce original work exploring Black history, identity, heritage, resilience, belonging and community.
The readings also reflect on contemporary experiences, offering different perspectives on the connections between personal stories and the wider histories that shape people’s lives.
Audience conversation is an integral part of the evening. Following each reading, Dee and Alex will invite questions and discussion, creating opportunities to explore the ideas and experiences raised by the poets.
Part of Lambeth Libraries’ Black History Month programme, Stories, Voices & Conversations welcomes anyone interested in poetry and the ways words can bring people together to listen, reflect and share.
