Joslyn Walker Peart: Crossing Time — Exhibition Private View

Tuesday 6 October 2026

Celebrate the work of the late Jamaican artist Joslyn Walker Peart at the private view of Crossing Time, an exhibition exploring memory, migration, identity and belonging.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1923, Peart eventually settled in Birmingham, where he worked at the BSA factory for many years. After retirement, he moved to Herefordshire and developed his interest in oil painting.

His work moves between reflections on the transatlantic slave trade and depictions of the British countryside surrounding him in later life.

Seen together, these paintings connect difficult histories with quieter rural landscapes, tracing a personal engagement with the past and the places he came to call home.

The private view takes place on Tuesday 6 October from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

The exhibition runs from 1 to 30 October 2026 during library opening hours. The booking link above is specifically for the private view.
