Join writer Gerard Alfonzo Daley for a reading from The Book of Erin and an audience question-and-answer session exploring Caribbean history through fiction.
Presented by Opal22 Arts and Edutainment, the evening introduces a novel set in seventeenth-century Montserrat.
The story examines migration, identity, colonialism and resistance, drawing connections between Africa, the Caribbean and the wider Atlantic world.
Following the reading, Daley will discuss the inspiration behind the novel and the historical research that informed his writing. Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions about the book and the ways storytelling can bring overlooked histories to wider attention.
This free event forms part of Leicester’s Black History Month programme.
