Vocalist Lulu Pierre joins the Alex Webb Trio for a special evening celebrating the music of Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan and Betty Carter.
Exploring the song catalogues of three of jazz’s greatest voices, Lulu brings her own distinctive style to a programme filled with expressive ballads and irresistible swing.
Alongside much-loved songs made famous by Billie, Sarah and Betty, Lulu will perform some personal favourites and a few surprises, creating an evening of discovery as well as familiar pleasures.
With arrangements by pianist and musical director Alex Webb and the support of his trio, the performance honours the spirit of these remarkable singers while leaving plenty of room for Lulu’s personality, warmth and musical imagination.

A compelling and elegant presence on stage, Lulu Pierre has a rich mezzo-soprano voice capable of conveying deep emotion one moment and swinging hard the next. Her partnership with Alex Webb has created a vocal act that feels fresh while remaining firmly rooted in the traditions of classic jazz.
Her repertoire ranges from the Great American Songbook and intimate torch songs to unexpected selections from beyond jazz. With a style that has drawn comparisons to Nancy Wilson’s sass and Sarah Vaughan’s swing, Lulu combines a playful approach with a special feeling for the heartbreak of a ballad.
