Celebrate the beauty and tradition of Nigerian and Yoruba culture at this hands-on gele-tying experience in Leeds.
Gele is a traditional Nigerian headwrap most commonly associated with Yoruba culture. The fabric is carefully folded, wrapped and shaped around the head to create an elegant, structured headpiece worn for celebrations and special occasions.
During the workshop, an experienced gele artist will guide you through the basics of creating a classic style, demonstrating each stage step by step.
You will then put what you have learned into practice by tying a gele on a friend.
