Hue & Cry: Full Band Scottish Tour with Special Guest Roachford

Friday 23rd October 2026

Scottish pop and soul favourites Hue & Cry are joined by special guest Roachford for a full-band show at Aberdeen Music Hall.

Brothers Pat and Greg Kane will revisit a career that stretches back to the 1980s, including songs such as Labour of Love, Looking for Linda and Violently, with both artists performing with full bands.

For Black History Month audiences, Roachford adds another particularly interesting strand to the evening.

Andrew Roachford emerged as one of the prominent Black British soul and rock voices of the late 1980s when Cuddly Toy reached number four in the UK chart.

His career has subsequently included ten studio albums, songwriting work and collaborations, as well as years performing with Mike + The Mechanics.

In 2019 he received an MBE for services to music.

Roachford’s career belongs to a generation of Black British performers who helped broaden ideas about what Black British popular music could sound like.

His work has moved freely between soul, pop and rock rather than remaining within a single musical category.

That matters when looking at Black British music history.

Black musicians have contributed across virtually every area of British popular culture, even when their presence has sometimes been more strongly associated with particular genres such as reggae, soul or R&B.

The pairing with Hue & Cry also reflects the exchange between Black American and Black British soul traditions and mainstream British pop that shaped much of the music of the 1980s.

With full-band sets from established performers and a catalogue spanning several decades, the Aberdeen date offers a relaxed, celebratory October night out while also recognising Roachford’s enduring place within Black British music.
