In 2001, Jayceon “The Game” Taylor was shot and spent 3 days in a coma. He claims that old-school rap helped him to recover, and that’s why he turned to rap. A protege of rap’s pioneer Dr. Dre, The Game represents the city he was born and spent his childhood – Compton, CA.

The Game has released three albums the most recent of which, L.A.X. was released on August 26, 2008 “The Documentary” (Aftermath/G-Unit/Interscope), the debut album from The Game, has been heralded by some as the arrival of the most significant West Coast gangsta rapper since Snoop Dogg more than a decade earlier.

With guest spots from the likes of 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes, as well as producers ranging from Dr. Dre to Kanye West to Just Blaze to Timbaland, “The Documentary” folds a variety of production methods into a critically acclaimed album. “The Doctor’s Advocate” (Geffen) is The Game’s second album, selling 380,000 copies in it’s first week.
