African Djembe Drumming (under 16s)

Tuesday 17th May

Traditionally, the drum has been the heartbeat and the soul of most African communities. Take part in our African Djembe Drumming workshop with Kay Smith for the whole family.

Traditionally, the drum has been the heartbeat and the soul of most African communities. African drums have been an intrinsic part of African life for centuries and countless generations, an ancient instrument used to celebrate all aspects of life. They are the musical instrument that African diaspora music relies heavily upon to create the rhythmic beats that signify most African, African Caribbean and Latin American music.

Kay Smith has been playing and running intergenerational Djembe Drumming classes for nearly two decades across schools, events, and festivals both in the UK and internationally.

Studio 6 // 19 Apr-28 Jun 2022: Tue 5.30pm (under 16s)
