Black Voices: Celebrating Aretha Franklin

Saturday 25th June

Celebrating the Queen of Soul, Black Voices team up with a really cool four-piece band to cover some Aretha classics. This trip down memory lane includes love songs about looking for love, finding love and being in love.

From standing in for Pavarotti, singing at the inaugurations of two Presidents, accompanying herself on piano, blockbuster movie soundtracks, Aretha Franklin was just super talented.

As if being a great icon wasn’t enough Aretha teamed up with some of the best in music for many of her greatest chart hits. Stevie Wonder wrote for Aretha knowing that she had a voice that could do just about anything.

Black Voices’ Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves is a soul-stirring anthem that all women can relate to and starts an 80s medley where the audience have fun and “drop some moves” if the spirit moves.

The all-time classic People Get Ready sends a message of moving forward and making the most of every opportunity! Black Voices have certainly captured the spirit of Aretha Franklin in this collection of her songs that will live on forever.
