BUFF at BCA: No Shade feature film and discussion

Feature film screening followed by a forum discussion with the director and key cast on the disease that is ‘Dark skin vs Light skin’  

Told through the prism of colourism, love and misogynoir, No Shade tackles the deep seated issues of black love in the U.K. Jade, a successful freelance photographer is hopelessly in love with her best friend of 10 years, bar manager Danny. She discovers that the one thing keeping them from happy ever after is her inherent beauty – her complexion and skin tone. Her shade.

This feature film screening will be followed by Q&A discussion with Clare Anyiam-Osigwe BEM (Director/Writer/Actor), Kadeem Pearse (Leader Actor), Adele Oni (Lead Actress).

Tickets are £15, £12 concessions.

Clare Anyiam-Osigwe
Clare Anyiam-Osigwe is a British Empire Medallist, honoured by the Queen for services to Dermatology in 2017. With a Degree in Acting and Directing and a Doctorate in Bio Chemistry, Clare has combined her passion for natural beauty and filmmaking to write her direct oral debut ‘No Shade’

Adele Oni
Adele Oni is a Nigerian-born British actress starring as the lead ‘Jade’ in No Shade.

Kadeem Pearse
Kadeem Pearse is a London born actor with previous works including the Olivier awarded ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ and ‘Chewing Gum series 2’. Kadeem plays the lead role of ‘Danny’ in No Shade.
