Dele Sosimi & Friends

Friday 29 August

Afrobeat ambassador and long-time Jazz Cafe favourite Dele Sosimi returns to the stage for a one-night-only celebration alongside some of his most cherished collaborators.

With over four decades of experience performing, writing and recording, Dele brings together a unique ensemble to honour and evolve the legacy of Fela Kuti. This special performance promises to channel the vibrant spirit of afrobeat with fresh energy and deep-rooted authenticity.

The band will feature an expansive rhythm section in true Kalakuta style – two drummers, two bassists, two percussionists and two keyboardists – echoing the sound and spirit of Fela’s legendary Afrika Shrine. As Dele puts it himself, “Fela would have loved this”.

Expect irresistible grooves and hypnotic rhythms that will keep you moving all night long. This is a rare opportunity to witness afrobeat in its fullest form – raw, joyful, and alive.

Special guests include Nikolaj Hess, Afrikan Boy, Tony Kofi, Byron Wallen, with more surprises to be revealed on the night.
