Marla Kether

Wednesday 22 October

Born in London to Congolese parents, Marla Kether is a bassist, producer, and DJ who has been hailed as “one of the most exciting talents to emerge this year” by Bandcamp Daily.

As a session bassist, she has worked with artists such as Yazmin Lacey, Oscar Jerome, and Obongjayar, amassing over 35 million streams. Her work has been championed by Crack Magazine, Gilles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs, Jamz Supernova, and others.

Marla’s musical style is as diverse as her influences, blending live Latin percussion, Afro-Brazilian grooves, driving basslines, and guitar riffs inspired by her West African heritage.

She has toured globally as the bassist for Loyle Carner and Little Simz, including a standout performance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage.

Recognised as a rising star, Marla Kether now brings her dynamic sound to The Shacklewell Arms for an intimate live show.
