In the world of dub music, Scientist needs little introduction. His style and presence as an audio engineer has shaped the dub music scene across the world, with his innovations in mixing creativity having directed the genre from being a niche Jamaican subculture to a globally acknowledged musical heavyweight.
Having worked with the likes of Peter Chemist, King Tubby and Prince Jammy, Scientist is considered to be the last of the classical Jamaican dub mixers. Working across some of the most influential studios in Jamaican music, such as Channel One and Tuff Gong, echoes of Scientist’s brilliance can be heard throughout their various sounds.
After his move to the US, Scientist made some incredible live performances with Mad Professor, who created the platform for live performance upon a mixing deck. It was Scientist who pushed the boundaries of this artform, stretching the very limits of the dub format in a way that has not been seen or heard before or since.
His performance will explore his 1981 release ‘Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires’, a legendary production which flexes Scientist’s vast range of abilities as a dub engineer and will be performed alongside The Uppercut Band.
