Songs from my Soul

Monday 24th October

Fresh from their sell-out London show, Songs From My Soul charts the story of Jamaican immigrant Aretha and her 2nd generation daughter Ginger, through song and spoken word.

This funny and poignant show has much to say to mothers and daughters the world over.

Ginger Bennett and Maxine Edwards tell a compelling story against the backdrop of history. With music throughout from soul icons Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack and Gregory Porter, as well as inspirational new compositions by Knight and Bennett.

A Festival regular well-known for her fabulous voice and intimate style of performance, Ginger is joined by Canterbury jazz pianist and composer Frances Knight, bassist Martin Elliott and saxophonist Matt Miles. The show is directed by Michael Amerstorfer.
