The tour will be led by Lisa Williams of the Edinburgh Caribbean Association. Hear the fascinating but little-known stories of Edinburgh’s deep connections with Africa, Asia and the Caribbean from Tudor times to the present day. The walk around the centre of the town will make you see Edinburgh’s statues and buildings in a whole new way!
Currently the Dundas Statue is cordoned off, so meeting point is in front of the Costa Coffee outlet.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter?
Suitable for 14 +
It’s too long and detailed a tour for young children, and the subject matter can also touch on difficult subjects. Though we are working on a child/young people friendly version and we do school visits in Scotland as part of our Black History month tour complete with music, dance and food.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
St.Andrew’s Sq. is very close to Princes St., so Waverley train station, St.Andrew’s bus station and all major bus routes are just a minute’s walk away
What can I bring into the event?
Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring an umbrella and a lightweight anorak just in case! If the weather is bad, we will stay longer in our indoor stops along the way. Be aware hot drinks and food cannot be taken in to the National Portrait Gallery, which is our second stop.
