NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s BME Staff Network invites colleagues to come together for a special Black History Month celebration recognising the history, achievements, resilience and contributions of Black communities.
Taking place in Glasgow on Saturday 24 October, the event will celebrate this year’s Black History Month theme, Honouring Our Communities, bringing people together for an afternoon of celebration, reflection, culture and connection.
Honouring Our Communities
The 2026 theme celebrates the strength, diversity, heritage and collective achievements of Black communities.
It provides an opportunity to recognise the contributions of individuals, families and communities who have shaped our past, enriched our present and continue to inspire future generations.
Across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Black colleagues make important contributions to patient care, public service, research, leadership and community engagement.
The event will provide an opportunity to recognise those contributions while encouraging greater understanding, inclusion and belonging.
An Afternoon of Culture, Conversation and Celebration
The programme will include guest speakers, inspirational stories, cultural performances, networking opportunities and engaging discussions exploring Black history, heritage, representation and inclusion.
Guests will also be able to enjoy music and authentic Afro-Caribbean food as part of what organisers hope will be an uplifting and memorable celebration.
Black History Month is not only a time to celebrate achievement, but also an opportunity to learn, listen, connect and inspire positive change.
Together, the event will honour the stories, experiences and achievements of Black communities while looking towards a more inclusive future.
Staff who are due to be working during the event are asked to discuss and confirm attendance with their manager before registering.
Please note: Registration is due by Friday 16 October 2026. The booking link was not included in the original submission.
