JonaQuestArt presents A celebration of African Queens. An exhibition which coincides with black history month, invites you to celebrate the women in your everyday lives, women that have influenced you; be they queens, warriors, advocates, mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, wives and lovers.
The exhibition brings together over 30 pieces of illustrations, paintings and mixed media works created by artists based in the UK, Nigeria and Uganda. The collection of art shown, speaks to history, culture, strength, freedom, unity, empowerment, attitudes, issues and complexities that has come to define the multi-faceted being of women.
This is a rare opportunity to see:
Heroines and African queens depicted in illustrations, highlighting African women who fought for what they believed in, advocated for others and lived their lives according to their own rule book; inspiring women across, different generations and ethnicities.
Vibrant portraiture, exploring cultures and ideologies of beauty with traditional head dress in different clans and tribes.
The delicate portrayal of women referencing the strength and resilience that lie within used by women to navigate societal expectations.
We invite you to an aesthetic and thought provoking experience. Come and celebrate women in all their glory.
There will be sealed auction on one of the pieces and the winner will be announced on the 18th of November. A percentage of the proceeds will go to a charity supporting women causes.
