Black Boys — Film Screening and Discussion

Monday 2 November 2026

Join Minet Library for a screening of Black Boys, followed by a discussion exploring the documentary’s themes and their relevance to a British audience.

Directed by Sonia Lowman and released in 2020, the film examines Black male identity and opportunity in the United States through the overlapping worlds of sport, education and criminal justice.

Its intergenerational approach explores the breadth of Black male experience and encourages audiences to look beyond restrictive assumptions about Black boys and men.

Following the screening, participants will be invited to reflect on the questions raised by the documentary and consider how these connect with experiences and debates in Britain.

The event forms part of Lambeth Libraries’ autumn Black History Month programme.
