British History, Black Music, Racism & The Music Industry: 1507 to 2020

Tuesday 15 October

Historical musicologist Kwaku’s mashup video documentary covers 500 years of Africans in Britain and the engagement of black music in dealing with Afriphobia, racism, and apartheid.

It also reflects on the music industry’s programmes that sprung up to deal with racism in the aftermath of the Afriphobic murder of George Floyd. This screening will allow us to consider, with the help of a panel, whether the music industry has gone forward or back since 2020.

This event will be viewable via Zoom. Please book a ticket for the link.
