For 25 years American cinematographer Kirsten Johnson has roamed the globe for some of the documentary world’s biggest directors, including Michael Moore (Fahrenheit 9/11) and Laura Poitras (Citizenfour). Drawing on footage she’s shot for countless other directors, in Cameraperson Johnson has assembled a unique memoir of the images that have most marked her to reflect eloquently on the relationship between truth and the camera frame. Poetic and thought-provoking, Cameraperson (winner of a host of prizes including the Grand Jury Award at Sheffield Doc/Fest) is a masterclass in what it means to film and be filmed.
