A collaboration between James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem, DFA Records) and David and Stephen Dewaele (Soulwax), Despacio’s bespoke soundsystem envelops the crowd in amazing sound for a vinyl-only experience like no other.
The trio are behind the decks for two days at Meltdown festival, in The Clore Ballroom at Royal Festival Hall. It’s a much more intimate venue than usual, yet still surrounded by 50,000 watts of power.
Despacio is powered by McIntosh and Jordan Acoustics.
As founder and principal of LCD Soundsystem, James Murphy has created four of the most acclaimed albums of the millennium – including the recent number one American Dream.
He is also founder of the DFA label, a producer and remixer, and as a DJ, has toured the globe headlining festivals and clubs the world over.
Brothers David and Stephen Dewaele are famous worldwide under their alias Soulwax.
Musical pioneers, they remixed their own album Any Minute Now into Nite Versions. In 2011 they tore up the rule book again with the creation and curation of Radio Soulwax as a live touring event, an app and an online radio station.
