Kara Jackson

Tuesday 17 June

The singer wields her voice like a honey-coated blade, crafting a blend of emotional folk music and poetic alt-country.

With the spirit of Nina Simone, and the intricate lyricism of Joni Mitchell and Joana Newsom, Jackson’s writing, inspired by the American South and her experiences growing up in Chicago, blurs the line between poetry and song, demanding an attentive ear and a repeat listen.

Her debut album, Why Does the Earth Give Us People to Love?, released in April 2023, garnered support from the likes of PitchforkNPRBillboard Magazine and Rolling Stone.
