Rooted: Celebrating Black Identity

Saturday 10 October 2026

Celebrate Black identity, heritage and self-confidence at Rooted, a creative family workshop bringing storytelling and hands-on activities to Minet Library for Black History Month.

Hosted by Harieth Sedrick-Ugo, founder of Mothers Recharge, the session invites children and their families to explore culture, identity and belonging in a welcoming environment.

Through stories and creative activities, participants will celebrate Black experiences, discover inspiring books and think about the people, places and traditions that help shape who they are.

The workshop encourages children to take pride in themselves and their heritage, while giving families an opportunity to learn and create together.

Designed for families with children aged three to ten, Rooted forms part of Lambeth Libraries’ Black History Month programme of activities celebrating African and Caribbean heritage and culture.
