Bel Cobain

Wednesday 14th October 2026

East London singer-songwriter Bel Cobain comes to Leeds for an intimate performance at Belgrave Music Hall, bringing her distinctive combination of jazz, soul, R&B, rap and poetic songwriting to the city.

Cobain first began attracting attention with Introverted Stoner in 2019 before releasing her debut EP Radical Forgiveness in 2023.

Since then, she has steadily developed an audience attracted to music that refuses to remain within straightforward genre boundaries.

Her songs can move between jazz-influenced instrumentation, soulful R&B and spoken or rapped passages, with an emphasis on storytelling and lyrics shaped by introspection.

Cobain’s approach is also strongly connected to ideas beyond music itself. Her writing regularly examines social expectations, relationships, identity and the political ideas that shape everyday life.

Rather than separating those subjects from her creative work, she uses songwriting as a way of questioning assumptions and expressing perspectives that can be difficult to contain within conventional pop structures.

Her growing reputation has taken her to stages including Glastonbury, Love Supreme, the Jazz Cafe and the Roundhouse, as well as performances across several European cities.

The Leeds appearance comes as part of an important new chapter in her career with Brownswood Recordings, the label founded by broadcaster and DJ Gilles Peterson and known for championing adventurous music rooted in jazz and its many contemporary offshoots.

Taking place during Black History Month, the concert provides an opportunity to experience one of the emerging artists helping reshape contemporary British soul and alternative music.

For audiences interested in artists who move freely between jazz, soul, R&B and rap, Bel Cobain at Belgrave Music Hall promises an atmospheric evening of music from a performer developing a voice very much her own.
