The Community Black Achievers Wings Awards returns to Leeds for an evening recognising excellence, resilience, leadership and positive contributions within Black communities.
Established in 1992, the awards were created at a time when communities including Chapeltown, Harehills and Little London were frequently represented negatively in the media. The initiative sought instead to highlight people who were achieving remarkable things and making meaningful contributions to the lives of others.
More than three decades later, that commitment to recognition remains at the centre of the event.
The 2026 awards ceremony will celebrate individuals, businesses and organisations whose dedication, achievements and leadership continue to inspire positive change.
Recognition matters because achievement is not only about individual success. Many of those celebrated through the awards use their own experiences, skills and opportunities to support others, strengthen communities and create pathways for the generations following them.
Throughout the evening, guests will hear the stories of award recipients alongside live entertainment, music and celebration.
A Caribbean buffet will be served, followed by dancing and opportunities for attendees to meet community leaders, professionals, organisations and supporters from across Leeds and beyond.
The event also offers important opportunities for networking, bringing people working across community development, business, education, health, culture and voluntary organisations into the same room.
Earlier in the day, Community Black Achievers Wings Awards will host a free mental-health conference at the same venue, creating a programme that moves from conversations about wellbeing and support to an evening celebrating success and community achievement.
Taking place during Black History Month, the Community Black Achievers Wings Awards 2026 is both a celebration and a reminder of the importance of recognising the people whose work often takes place quietly within communities but whose impact can be profound.
Guests are invited to dress in evening wear and join an inspiring night built around hope, healing, strength and community.
