Please join us at one of our bidders days for the chance to apply for a portion of £500,000 to fund Windrush community events.
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government would like to invite you to the Windrush Day Grant 2019 bidders day event on Friday the 21st December 2018 from 11am to 12.30pm at The Lateral, 8 City Walk, Leeds.
The Windrush Generation and subsequent migrants, and their descendants have made a large contribution to Britain’s cultural, social and economic life. It is our intention to recognise and promote understanding of this contribution and to make clear to those of Caribbean descent that Government values their enormous contribution to our national life and wishes to recognise that contribution. We are therefore seeking to offer grants to support celebrations that recognise the arrival of MV Empire Windrush and the contribution of the Windrush Generation.
We are looking for organisations to run a community led project or projects seeking to celebrate, commemorate and educate communities about the history of the MV Empire Windrush. This includes those who arrived on the ship, their contemporaries and descendants, and the contribution of the Windrush Generation to British economic, social and cultural life. We have a budget of up to £500,000 available to fund events and projects across the country. The minimum amount available is £2,500 and the maximum is £25,000.
The bidders day is an opportunity for community representatives and groups, charities and local authorities to:
- Get guidance on the application process.
- Find out more about the kind of projects and events we want to support.
- Meet other prospective applicants.
- Have any queries you might have answered.
If you are interested in attending can you please rsvp by Monday 17 December 2018.
The deadline for applications is midnight on 21 January 2019.
