Livestreamed commissioned performances from some of the region’s finest dancers, musicians, and lyricists. Harnessing the spirit of Maya Angelou’s iconic poem, BAME artists will explore life, love, and Black Lives Matter, in an unprecedented era of a global pandemic.

2Funky Music Café will provide a powerful platform for showcasing exciting new work to diverse audiences. Featuring Lydia Lutudi, Helder Delgado Heilongjiang, Marcus Joseph, Morgan Monroe, Boston ‘The Orator’ Williams, and new unsung talent, we will shine the spotlight on their valuable perspectives.

Call Out

2Funky Arts is on the lookout for Black artists, to develop exciting new work.

Applicants should be 18+ and from the East Midlands. All performance art forms considered, including vocals, dance, theatre and poetry.

Each selected artist will be paid to create a 10-15 minute performance in response to the Black Lives Matter movement and/or the impact of COVD-19 on BAME communities. These pieces will be showcased as part of Black History Month 2020, at 2Funky Music Café, live-streamed to a wide audience.

Artists will need to be available from 28-31 October 2020 for rehearsals and the final performance. Fees to be negotiated.
