Sylvia

Wednesday 28 October to Saturday 31 October 2026

Sylvia tells the powerful and often overlooked story of Sylvia Pankhurst — a fearless, complex and determined figure at the heart of the fight for women’s rights.

While her mother and sister led the mainstream suffrage movement, Sylvia focused on the struggles of working women, the poor and the politically unheard, risking everything to bring about meaningful change. Caught between family loyalty and her own convictions, her story is one of courage, sacrifice and resistance.

This bold and energetic production blends hip hop, funk and soul with theatre, creating a vibrant and contemporary retelling of a pivotal moment in British history. With music by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, and direction and choreography by Kate Prince, the show brings new life to Sylvia’s legacy through movement, rhythm and storytelling.

Both inspiring and thought-provoking, Sylvia celebrates activism, identity and the power of collective action, offering audiences a fresh perspective on a figure who helped shape modern Britain.

Norwich Theatre Royal is one of the UK’s leading regional venues, hosting major touring productions in the heart of Norwich, with excellent facilities including accessible seating and on-site refreshments.
