BHM South & SS Shieldhall celebrates the 75th Anniversary of the Windrush and the original Windrush pioneer’s arrival in the UK.
Black History Month South in association with SS Shieldhall aims to make June 24th, 2023 a day of celebration in Southampton to mark the 75th anniversary of the Windrush and the original Windrush Pioneers and to raise the awareness and public understanding of the history of race and migration to the City across the decades.
On the day of the sailing, BHM South will be running a photographic exhibition and talks sharing some of the history behind the Windrush travellers.
There will also be traditional Caribbean food available and live entertainment.
