Black Feminist Picnic + Book Swap

Saturday 18th June

The Black Feminist Bookshop invites you to our first picnic and book swap.

This is a get-together for Black women, femmes, girls and nonbinary people of all ages and abilities.

We are queer-led, trans and sex worker inclusive.

It’s time for Soft Black Girl Summer.

Bring a Black feminist or queer Black book to swap.

Bring food and snacks.

Bring non-alcoholic drinks to keep yourself hydrated.

Bring music or an instrument if you play (we’d love to hear you jam)!

Come chill and flourish with us.

We’ll have extra preloved books available so everyone gets one to takeaway. Leftover books will be donated to the Black Feminist Bookshop collection.

We are taking up space to be joyful, whole and at peace.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Tickets:

This event is free to attend. However, it would be helpful if you can register beforehand as this will give us an idea of the numbers to expect and plan accordingly. We will also be able to update you of any changes to the event/location.

Meeting point:

We’ll meet on the common near the Round Cafe. We’ll be the group with books. Don’t worry if you’re coming alone. We’ll introduce you to people when you arrive.

If you want to help out with hosting on the day, email: blackfeministreading@gmail.com

Accessibility information:

All areas of the park open to the public are wheelchair accessible. There are wheelchair accessible and gender neutral toilets.

There are also baby changing facilities available in the toilet block in the park near Strakers Road and near the Adventure Playground.

Toilets in the Round Cafe are wheelchair accessible and gender neutral.

There is a picnic area within the Arboretum (we may or may not use this).
