In this next coming Celebrations, A celebration and Remembrance of the South African Soweto Uprising June 16 1976 Youth Day will be Celebrated alongside the Ipswich Windrush Celebrations and Remembrance!

The AFL (African Future Leadership) Centre is in support of the promotion of the African Union agenda 2063. The rebuilding of Africa calls on all Africans and descendants in Africa, those displaced due to slavery and those hapilly settled all over the world to come together to promote peace, harmony and equal access and equal treatment in the future of Africa’s global trade missions and international relations.

During these 2020 celebrations, we will show films such as OR Tambo’s contribution to the freedom struggle and the UK community’s collaborations, boycott protests and street protests that led to the end of Apartheid era in South Africa.

The event will also feature short films about events that encouraged Nelson Mandela’s government to forgive the Apartheid government after 27 years of his racially motivated imprisonment. The work the African Caribbean community did in Brixton alongside their South African brothers and sisters to have the Hector Petersen 1976 portrait and Mandela statues erected in Brixton and Parliament square respectively.
