A night of African Drumming hosted by NIAS

Thu, September 13, 2018 6:00 PM – 8:00

A blend of magical African melodies and uplifting rhythms

About this Event

This event offers a unique opportunity to hear some of the sounds of Africa. The night will also include a talk on voluntourism as part of our Doing Good Series. If you want to learn how to get involved in development projects that provide real benefit, then this talk will share some important tips and insights.

THE DRUMMERS

Jalikunda was formed by Senegal-born Mamadou Cissoko, an exceptional Kora and Djembe player, and the group now comprises him and his extended family members.

Based in Bristol, these professional musicians combine to make one of the foremost African ensembles in the country, and travel all around the UK to bring the rich musical heritage of Senegal to unprepared but pleasantly surprised British ears.

This will be our first event in Chertsey so we hope to see you there at the NIAS Shop on the 13th September!

Refreshments and food will be available after the performance.
