Mayfair is not traditionally associated with the Black presence but there is a great deal there. We will explore and expose multiple, fascinating examples, from African spirituality to 20th century superstars.

 

We will cover:

Black owned business and high society in the 1940s Ancient African goddesses The Kenyan, South African, Zimbabwean connections Secret aristocratic inter-racial lovers and their legacies Rich and famous Black men of the 1930s Legendary African Americans and their UK reception Swanky restaurants and disappearing histories Colour bars, jazz, swing and amazing dancers Nigerian composers and Caribbean band leaders Formula 1, fashion , £6000 hand bags and Nazis
