Known for his sophisticated compositions and distinctive sound, Sly5thAve sits at the intersection of groove, musicality and innovation. His work draws on deep influences from jazz legends such as Roy Hargrove, Quincy Jones and Cannonball Adderley, while remaining rooted in the rhythms and culture of hip hop.
A highly respected saxophonist and arranger, he has performed and collaborated with an impressive range of artists including Prince, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Questlove and Alfa Mist, as well as working with collectives such as Ghost-Note. His ability to bridge genres was showcased in his celebrated orchestral reinterpretation of Dr Dre’s music, performed with a 30-piece orchestra.
This special Ronnie Scott’s performance features a full live band and string section, presenting a rich and layered sound that combines original compositions with inventive reworkings. The show will also debut new material, offering audiences a fresh and immersive musical experience.
