Join award-winning asexual activist, model, writer and researcher Yasmin Benoit for a special Black History Month event exploring asexuality, race, visibility and intersectionality.
Described by Cosmopolitan as the “unlikely face of asexuality”, Yasmin has become one of the world’s leading voices for asexual and aromantic communities.
During this special event, she will discuss her experiences as a Black asexual woman, the importance of recognising intersecting identities and the need for more diverse representation within LGBTQIA+ communities and wider society.
Yasmin publicly came out as asexual in 2017. She later created the #ThisIsWhatAsexualLooksLike movement to challenge stereotypes and increase the visibility of the many different people who identify as asexual.
She also co-founded International Asexuality Day, which is marked each year on 6th April.
Her distinctive approach to activism has attracted coverage from British and international media, including Vogue, MTV, Sky News, Paper, Attitude and the BBC.
In 2023, Yasmin became the first asexual Grand Marshal at New York City Pride. In 2024, she became the first openly asexual person to lead Pride in London. The following year, she received a British LGBT Award for her activism.

Yasmin Benoit is a British model, multi-award-winning asexual activist, writer, speaker, media consultant and researcher.
Through campaigning, public speaking, research and media work, she challenges misconceptions about asexuality while advocating for greater understanding, inclusion and representation.
