Ital Reign – The story of a dangerous dub

Monday 14th May 2018 - 7pm

Award winning filmmakers, The Catalyst Studios, will hold a private screening of their reggae inspired pilot film ‘Ital Reign and the Story of the Dangerous Dub’ in Digbeth next month.

‘Ital Reign’ shines a spotlight on Birmingham’s contributions to the reggae music industry and tells the story of Richie, 24, and his dreams of becoming a successful reggae artist. With his first child on the way, Richie is all the more determined to make it but best friend and bandmate, Alton Love, wants the spotlight for himself and is prepared to destroy Richie’s reputation to have his moment.

Set in the 1990’s, the pilot film tells the nostalgic backstory to Catalyst’s much anticipated feature film ‘Shy’, in which Richie’s daughter, Jasmine, now 21, picks up the story and follows her own dreams of stardom to the island of Jamaica.

Directors Steffan and Dominic who were born in the 90’s, have injected their own influences of the era, their heritage and culture into this film to captivate audiences on a global scale.

With an original soundtrack composed by Amlak Tafari (Bassist – Steel Pulse) and contributions from Birmingham’s finest performers starring:

Andre Hesson, Diego, Bola Latunji, Luke Smith, Lynette Walters, Shireenah Ingram, Cherrelle Skeete, Amlak Tafari, Victor Richards and Tonia Daley-Campbell.

Please follow @italreign on all social media platforms to stay update to with up and coming screenings around the UK.
