An Introduction to Anti-Racism

Tue, 20 April 2021 18:30 – 20:30 BST

A workshop discussing how to become an active antiracist looking at the history of racism and resistance and the current BLM Movement.

“ ……we need to wake up. We need to wake up to racism and white supremacy. We need to continuously educate ourselves about our true history”

—Dr. Jan Willis

Through this workshop we discuss how you can become an active anti-racist and what current campaigns you can be part of to tackle institutional racism in the light of the Black Lives Matter movement.

With a strongly intersectional approach we’ll talk about white fragility and positionality and the complex ways that race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, class and other factors can interact in oppression and privilege.

We’ve also come up with an anti-racism toolkit that can be used to show active solidarity and de-centre whiteness, and a resource pack that will allow everyone to continue learning after the workshop

This event will take place on Zoom, and you will receive the link after registration.
